Voice of the Unheard: Transgender Empowerment

“The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson

When you look at the social problems, no doubt there are many in our society. But the if talk about basic human rights to get an education, job, honorable living in the society, are the basic human rights for everyone.

As far as human rights are concerned, Transgenders rights and their deep development are
important in our society, but the saddest thing is, we didn’t even treat them as human beings. This patch of community is facing Mental, Harassment, Bullying, Social exclusion, and Employment issues. Our Society has no proper knowledge about “Who the Transgenders Are” and in the light of Islam where they stand. Suicidal tendency is increasing in this group because of our exclusion/attitude. So, there is a need to educate society and make transgenders skillful and worthy so they can survive in a better way on their own.

Sadly in our society Transgenders are going through Mental, Harassment, Bullying, and Employment issues every day. If we can arrange seminars or webinars then we’ll be able to educate society. Moreover, through social media platforms, we can spread awareness among the people. By having the proper speakers regarding the domain of Islam and human rights we’ll be able to acknowledge the society.

“There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people.”― John Holmes

It’s time to give back to society in which we are living and enjoying every day, and fortune enough gets privilege every day. To work effectively we divide the task on every stage of the way. Ayesha Khan and Sibtain Maqsood using their connections to hunt down the transgenders who have already broken their chains and working honorably to earn. Mariam Qamar, Muhammad Faizan, Waleed Ullah Wahlah are working on arranging webinars and talking to different organizations to collaborate on skill development programs. Hira Naveed is working on a social media campaign.

As far as challenges go, building trust in the affected community is the biggest challenge for us till now. They are not going to trust a bunch of people working alone, overnight. Instead of that we are giving our full and being consistent will be fruitful at the end.
